People we admire


Ricardo Moreno Cañas was the doctor of the wonderful hands and miraculous feeling of Costa Ricans who were his contemporaries. He was a person of a humanitarian nature. He was introduced as a man that would fight for his life and his career as a physician, with the aim always in pursuit of the ones in a health need. He received his doctor degree in 1915 at the University of Geneva, Switzerland and in World War served voluntarily in the French medical corps. For his contribution to this war in the field of medicine, he received the International Medal of the Red Cross and Knight of the Legion of Honor. In Costa Rica he was the most prominent doctor of his time.
